I'm Rzero. I'm new, obviously, and I'm looking forward to talking music with other fanatics. This should be fun.

I love music. I always have. I was watching MTV by age five and asking for Michael Jackson tapes instead of toys. My three favorite artists in this exact order are Billie Holiday, The Beatles and Radiohead.

It would be a big fat lie to say that I listen to everything, but I do enjoy a pretty wide variety from many eras. Favorite genres would include jazz (vocal, swing, bebop), classic rock (mostly 60s/70s), grunge/alternative (I was a 90s teen) and modern indie (pop/rock/folk/electronic). I enjoy a ton of stuff in between, but I'll keep the list short for now.

I'm an aspiring writer, and I've included a lot of music references in my two-and-a-half books. I think musical taste is as interesting a character trait as physical appearance or speech habits. Plus, it's fun to give nods to artists I love and that readers might connect with.

I'm an almost passable musician myself. I don't play all that often these days, but I still enjoy it. I mostly play guitar, bass and ukulele, but my level of proficiency at each is exceptionally mediocre. Still, I like to look up a song on Ultimate Guitar, play/sing through it once or twice and never memorize a single chord. I especially enjoy doing songs on the uke that have no business on a uke, like Madona, Greenday, MIA, etc. I don't play for people often, partially because my voice is abysmal. I can hit the notes, but no one wants to be in the room when I do.

Anyway, that's about all I can think of worth mentioning.
