What is the relationship between hip hop and fashion?

I think the Hip-hop and fashion are deeply intertwined, with hip-hop culture influencing and shaping fashion trends. The oversized clothing and sneakers, the luxury brands and streetwear, have all come about thanks to Hiphop.

Many hip-hop artists have also become fashion icons, using their platforms to showcase and promote their own fashion lines and trends.

I am seeing many fashion styles more from hip-hop singers because you can't have such great song and come out simply to face the audience.
I think fashion helps to showcase what they have in store for the people.

It's all a big merchandise business front for so many of those hip-hop artists. They already have a good number of active fanbase willing to throw their money around. It's why they sell very well.

You have a point too, especially for those that have clothing lines. They use it to promote their own stores and make more money.

Are we also talking about ladies who are half naked in most hip hop and rap music while the men are all covered up? Their sense of fashion is absolute garbage.

In my opinion this doesn't have anything to do with fashion but with the sexualising of women and objectifying them. It can also be part of a demonstration of power.
This is sadly considered normal in the music business (and in the entertainment industry AND the whole world as well) and sexism can be very prominent in music videos and lyrics.
But this isn't only a problem of the hiphop genre but the whole society and the artists who choose to make music videos like that.

It's a good way to showcase many ways to dress and these artists are doing well to bring it to the limelight. And people love to wear what their celebrities wore for shows.
Celebrities really have a way of influencing what their fans actually wear. That is why they should not just put on any rubbish so as not to cause negative mass influence.

Both have a way of influencing each other. Without good fashion, a hip hop singer can't build the courage he wanted in front of his fans unless he wear this or that.

Their rubbish is also fashion to their fans because those fans will like to emulate anything that the celebrities wear both the good and the bad.
