Is it better to play traditional instruments than modern ones, or vice versa?

Traditional instruments like the acoustic guitar and violin have been around for many centuries and are frequently regarded as having a timeless charm. Because they have a distinctive sound that is connected to specific civilizations and musical genres, many musicians feel that they provide a level of authenticity that contemporary instruments cannot match.

Contrarily, new instruments like the electric guitar and synthesiser have completely changed how we compose and play music. They provide a greater selection of sounds and effects that may be adjusted to create fresh and original sounds.

So, traditional or modern instruments—which is better? Let's talk about each option's benefits and drawbacks.

Traditional instruments have this unplugged charm about them. That's one reason MTV Unplugged was so popular, I think. On that show, the artists who normally rocked out on loud instruments jammed on acoustic stuff.

You can say that again mate. When you talk about any musical instruments being so inspiring and unique in their sound when being used, there's no musical instruments that comes close to what you have with using the traditional instruments.

The time for traditional musical instruments have passed in our modern age. I know there might still be some musicians who makes use of one or two of them old instruments but it's not going to change anything about the dominance of modern day musical instruments. I'm all in support for modern instruments.

I have been using both the traditional musical instruments the same way that I'm using the modern musical instruments. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. There are songs I want to work on, it's going to be either traditional musical instruments or modern musical instruments that's going to do it best.

I have good respect for traditional musical instrument but with times things change, and it's the reason why modern musical instrument have much relevance in the music industry now.

Traditional and modern instruments have their strength and weaknesses. There are some songs that doesn't need traditional musical instruments and the same applicable to modern instruments.

The best is to know which one to work with and it will give you the best quality of the songs you are making.

There is a local drum we refer to as gangan in my locality, which means ‘talking drum’. I prefer playing that to the modern drums we have these days.
