Some writers love to take walk for inspiration with their headphones, some like to swim and others like to listen to music. There are many things that can inspire a writer. As a writer, find the one that works for you.

Some find it easy to get inspiration through walking, singing, writing, listening to songs or even being in a cool quiet place.

Have a notepad with you, or some form or recording device.
I can't just sit down and make a cool song - I usually have to have an idea beforehand. If you think of LITERALLY ANYTHING that you think could make a cool song, document it.
Even if it's not enough for a proper song, you can still build up a collection of ideas to use. I think it's different in the acoustic music world, but still - that's how I've been doing it for 7 or so years.
