Hey, my name is Sazsha, I’m new to this forum. I really enjoy talking about music, which is what brought me here. I’d love to share some of the stuff I’m into and, more than anything, discover new music. I feel like there’s still a lot out there I haven’t heard yet haha. My taste is pretty wide, I’m into rock, metal, punk, rap, EDM, Soul, etc. Sometimes even some weird stuff.
For my first post, I wanted to share 5 Mexican rap albums that I think are some of the best out there. (Not a definitive list, no particular order)
1. Eptos Uno – P.L.O.M.O: This album has a raw sound, aggressive lyrics, and some hardcore rap influence, but still feels pretty catchy.
2. Tino El Pingüino – Todo fue un mal sueño: A really introspective EP with more poetic and worked lyrics. The whole theme revolves around the life of an average middle-class young guy.
3. Control Machete – Artillería Pesada Presenta: Probably one of the most important acts in Mexican rap. It touches on everyday life in Mexico from a social and political perspective.
4. Cartel de Santa – Vol. 5 (Sincopa): Mexican gangsta rap with a conceptual approach. The transitions between tracks are really smooth, and the title comes from the syncopated rap flow used throughout the album.
5. Muelas de Gallo – Mini Súper El Rey: A more recent album by one of the best rappers in Mexico (in my opinion). Great lyrics, solid bars, dope instrumentals, and good features. It sits somewhere in between styles, not too hardcore, not too gangsta, not too introspective.
I’ve noticed most posts here are pretty short, so hopefully you don’t mind a longer one haha.
